The Long and Winding Road

The bad news is I start the treatments for leukemia (NHL) today. It's a schedule of two weeks of steroids followed by 18 weeks of chemo in three week cycles. Every third week, they hook me up for four hours while I sit in a chair. It may be time to find something I actually want to read or set up a laptop for midi composition.

The good news is I get out of yard work for most of the summer and I can rent out the top of my head for Google Ad Space. :-)

I'll be fine. Steroids are an emotional roller coaster though so if I write whinier than usual, well, it's coals to newcastle. I'll see if I can compose a blues mass for the church choir. Hey, emotions should not be wasted. Minds should.

And I still have fine music.

Sorry to hear about your illness. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thanks Steve. It's been going on for a while but now is the time to get brutal. I like to think of it as poisoning a viral marketeer. ;-)

I'm notifying mostly because a) I'm scared to death somewhat irrationally and b) since I write a lot and this treatment has emotional side effects (steroids are like being a campfire urn with a stick poking back at the cook), I don't want to be misunderstood or at least have my usual rude behavior blamed on the chemists.

Len, I'm sorry to hear about your illness, but I'll keep you in my prayers...and if you want to send me a snail mail address, a rough idea of how big your head is around, and what's your favorite color, I would be happy to hand make you a hat to cover up your ad space. ;)

Meanwhile, I have a fine Irish hat from Muckross Farms, Killarney Ireland. It's my souvenir from IrishSpace. It has no hat size so I have a standard Irish head.

Large.

Dude, I think the standard Irish large is probably more like an extra large...but I'll do my best and make it stretchy! :)

God bless you sweet one.

Accidentally stumbled upon your blog, any case, I wish you fast recovery. And only good effects of 'roids.

It hasn't been brutal and while 'roided and hermit-bound, I've been working on art like mad to good effect.

I'm fine. God gives us the strength and we pick the goals. Do that with an ear to the voice and life sings a beautiful song.
